Roland Barthes (1977) - came up with 7 narrative codes, these are things that help us understand the story.
Todorov - He said that any sort of story or narrative has to through the narrative structures, these are the Equilibrium, Disruption, Action, New equilibrium.
 Kate domaille (2001) - Every story ever told can be fitted into one of eight narrative types,
